This open gym-style class is designed for our youngest gymnasts (18 months to 3 years old) to get active and explore the sport of gymnastics. We meet every Thursday from 9:30am-10:30am. Due to covid, we ask only one parent per child.
These classes are designed for students aspiring to further their gymnastics career. Athletes will learn proficiency in basic skills (handstands, cartwheels, forward and backward rolls, etc.). Athletes will also be introduced to new skills and work on all of the events– vault, uneven bars, balance beam, floor, and trampoline. Gymnasts will follow a skill progression chart, working on appropriate drills for their level while mastering and become confident in their gymnastics.
This program prepares gymnasts for their high school gymnastics team. MGA is the proud home of the Highland High School Gymnastics Team and is the training facility for the Medina High School Team. Our flexible program allows gymnasts to decide their individual level of participation; we believe offering our gymnasts several choices will help them shine and reach their full potential as athletes.
For cheerleaders looking for more tumbling experience, check out our Open Gym classes for more opportunities to improve your tumbling skills!
Children participating in the team programs have been selected from our pre-school and recreational programs as having strong potential for success in the sport of gymnastics because of above average physical attributes in the areas of strength, flexibility, and coordination, as well as mental toughness and a positive attitude. These gymnasts put in many hours at the gym and travel to competitions to show off their hard work.
Open gym is designed to allow gymnasts and siblings/friends to have an extra hour of gymnastics fun from 7:45-8:45pm on Friday nights in the fall. Participants do not have to be currently enrolled at MGA, but they must be at least 6 years old to participate! Kids can choose what they work on (under the supervision of a coach). Registration will be open until the Thursday before open gym. You must register and pay in advance and have all of the necessary waivers and health forms filled out and signed–this can be done via our website or iClassPro app. The fee to participate is $12.
